A Diagnostic Analysis of Junior High School Students’ Difficulties in Solving TIMSS Model Mathematics Test

چکیده
This research aims to diagnose students' difficulties in solving the TIMSS model mathematics test. used quantitative descriptive method. The subjects of study is eighth-grade students junior high school Cirebon, Indonesia. Data collection was carried out through a simple random sampling technique including 676 from 13 public and private schools. instrument modelmathematics test form multiple-choice short answers as many 35 items which are translated into Indonesian. analysis using cognitive diagnostic modeling (CDM) R programe. result showen: 1) In knowing Domian have been dificulties understand: commutative properties on natural numbers, estimating nearest decimal number, identify appropriate table with information pictogram graph read values two line charts; 2) applaying in: choose combine different sources solve problems multiple steps number series, find solutions linear equations variables, compiling problems, calculating side lengths triangles based equations, symmetry reflection tables draw bar chart compare possible events; (3) reasoning domain patterns use Pythagorean theorem perimeter quadrilateral or triangle
